Alamance County Board of Elections host one-stop early voting on Elon campus

From Oct. 20 to Nov. 5, all Alamance County residents can register to vote and cast their ballot at South Gym as it will be one of the county's one-stop early voting locations.

As Election Day for the 2022 midterms draw closer, Elon University has partnered with the Alamance County Board of Elections to make the voting process as seamless as possible for students, faculty and staff.

The main outcome of the partnership is Elon will host one of five one-stop early voting locations in Alamance County. The one-stop early voting site will be located in South Gym from Oct. 20 until Nov. 5. Individuals who are not yet registered to vote in Alamance County may register at an early voting site during the early voting period. After registering, the newly registered voter can immediately vote at the same site. This process is called “same-day registration.”

The hours of operation for the South Gym one-stop early voting location, as well for the other early voting locations, can be found on the Alamance County Board of Elections website.

On Nov. 8, Election Day, a shuttle will run from the Center for the Arts located on N. Williamson Ave. to local polling places from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. An Election Night watch event hosted by Elon Votes! will also take place at 8 p.m. on the first floor of the Moseley Center.

Along with these efforts, the Kernodle Center for Civic Life is also making sure that students who vote absentee also have the necessary resources to cast their ballot.

Students can stop by the Kernodle Center office in Moseley 232 for envelopes and stamps, and also assistance with how to cast their ballot in their respective states as the rules and requirements vary for each state. Students can also visit the Elon Votes! website for more information.
