Elon physics, astronomy students report on summer internships

Jordan Wels, Jules Levanti and Amelia Bettati discuss their experiences with National Science Foundation internships

Every year, the National Science Foundation sponsors research experiences for undergraduates (NSF-REU) at institutions around the country. Three Elon physics and astronomy students – Jordan Wels, Jules Levanti and Amelia Bettati – accepted positions during the summer 2023 season. Wels, Levanti and Bettati spoke at the Nov. 8 Physics Tea event about their experiences at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Caltech, and the Southwest Research Institute, respectively.

Students interested in NSF-REU experiences should visit the official website at nsf.gov.

Hosted weekly by the Department of Physics, Physics Tea promises engaging discussions, thought-provoking ideas and a delightful spread of refreshments. Open to all students, faculty and staff, this gathering is the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow physics aficionados in a relaxed and informal setting.
