Elon brings professional development to the workplace

Faculty and staff from the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business visited local businesses in February to share more about AI in the workplace and how to handle negative events.

A program offered through the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business provides local businesses with professional development opportunities for their workforces.

The “Elon and You: Lunch & Learn Series” is designed for employees to engage Elon experts on industry trends and other emerging issues that may influence future operations and revenue growth. The first session was hosted in January 2023 by Rob Moorman, the Frank S. Holt Jr. professor of business leadership and organizational behavior.

The series, which is a free service for businesses, resumed in early February with faculty and staff visits to AMT Group and Merck & Co.

At AMT Group in Creedmoor, North Carolina, CEO Mark Leath ’95 G’22 hosted Haya Ajjan, associate dean for the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business, and Ashley Gangloff, assistant director of organizational development and faculty research. The duo focused on the evolving role of artificial intelligence in business.

Leath said he appreciated the university’s efforts to bring such relevant topics directly to the professional environment, enriching the learning experience for his team. “I wouldn’t have been able to travel my team to a session like this,” he said.

At Merck & Co. in Durham, North Carolina, Gangloff presented “Minimizing the Impact of a Negative Event” and offered insights on maintaining trust and integrity amidst challenges.

Businesses with an interest in hosting the series are invited to request a Lunch and Learn session.
