On Wednesday. April 17, six AP Spanish students from The Burlington School (TBS) and their teacher, Heather Danishanko, visited Elon as a part of an initiative by the Department of World Languages and Cultures to encourage high school students to continue their language study after graduation.
Upon their arrival, the TBS students attended a presentation about the university at the Inman Admissions Welcome Center. Then, the students participated in Lecturer Ricardo Mendoza’s SPN 1015: Intensive Elementary Spanish course. The high school students partnered with small groups of Elon students to complete the activities for the class. Next, students visited the Carlton Building where the Department of World Languages and Cultures is housed and learned about language programs at Elon. The TBS students completed their visit with lunch at Lakeside Dining with three Department of World Languages and Cultures students.
