Rich Landesberg, adjunct associate professor emeritx of journalism, was interviewed by WXII in Winston-Salem about being at the Capitol the last time a U.S. presidential inauguration was moved indoors 40 years ago.
President Donald Trump’s 2025 inauguration was the first time in 40 years that the event was moved indoors for cold weather, since former President Ronald Reagans 1985 inauguration.
Adjunct Associate Professor Emeritx of Journalism Richard Landesberg spoke with WXII about being at the 1985 inauguration as a young journalist.

“We spent months, literally months, wiring everything,” said Landesburg. “I stood where he was going to stand,” Landesberg said. “It was a very thrilling thing when you’re a young journalist, and we were going to cover the whole thing from the platform, because that’s the way it’s always been done.”
