Phi Kappa Phi Student Vice President Ethan Grossberg ’25 leads service project for ‘Feed the Hunger’

This initiative will provide food for a school in Pakistan that supports approximately 100 children in need.

The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi’s mission is “to recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others.” Over the 2025 Winter Term, Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) student Vice President Ethan Grossberg ’25 took this mission to heart and led a successful campaign to raise money for the local Feed the Hunger organization by collecting leftover meal swipes.

PKP allows for two student vice presidents who work alongside other executive committee members to fulfill the chapter’s responsibilities and coordinate a community service project. In September 2024, Ethan, a biology major with minors in neuroscience and art, was elected by members to assume this role.

Eager to bring awareness to the organization and the opportunity of members to make an impact on their local community, he came up with a plan to raise money for Feed the Hunger in Greensboro, North Carolina. Recognizing that the 200 and 300 block meal plans reset from fall/winter to spring, Ethan worked with Elon Dining to reinstate a meal swipe donation program so that unused meal swipes could be donated.

During the final week of Winter Term, he collected 173 block meal swipe donations from generous students, each valued at $2.50, which totaled $432.50. With additional support from the executive committee and Ethan himself, the total was brought to $700. This initiative will provide food for a school in Pakistan that supports approximately 100 children in need.
