The 51st U.S. Secretary of the Interior and former CEO of REI will join President Connie Ledoux Book in LaRose Digital Theatre on Oct. 30 for a conversation on leadership and sustainability.
Sally Jewell, who served as the 51st U.S. Secretary of the Interior and led REI (Recreational Equipment Inc.) as president and CEO, will visit Elon University on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 4:30 p.m. in LaRose Digital Theatre as part of the proposed Center for Humanity in Business Leaders program within the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business.
During her time in federal service, Jewell oversaw initiatives focused on public lands, environmental stewardship and partnerships with Indigenous communities. Prior to her government role, she spent more than a decade leading REI, where she helped grow the outdoor retailer while maintaining a strong focus on responsible business practices, employee well-being and community engagement.
Jewell’s career has spanned the energy, banking and outdoor recreation industries, giving her a unique perspective on how business decisions shape both society and the environment.
“Sally Jewell represents the kind of purpose-driven leadership that challenges students to think beyond short-term outcomes,” said Haya Ajjan, dean of the Love School of Business. “Her experience demonstrates how business, policy and community interests can align for long-term positive impact.”
This marks the first in a series of speakers the Love School of Business expects to host in the years ahead.
