Twenty-six students, faculty, staff and alumni representing Elon University’s Imagining the Internet Center participated in and provided official documentation of the Internet Governance Forum-USA 2011 at Georgetown University Law Center on July 18.
Elon University to launch LIFE@ELON, a lifelong learning institute

This September, Elon University will begin a new lifelong education program designed for people aged 50 and older. The learning institute, called LIFE@ELON, will feature weekly presentations conducted in interactive format. The learning community will be led by current and retired Elon faculty and staff members and other area educators.

Elon University will revise its Teaching Fellows program following recent action by the North Carolina General Assembly to phase out funding for the North Carolina Teaching Fellows program. The new Elon fellows program will recruit outstanding students nationally as well as those from North Carolina who want to pursue careers in education.

Elon University's board of trustees has approved the naming of the residence halls in the Colonnades Neighborhood, as well as three buildings in Danieley Center. The new names honor former Elon presidents, trustees and alumni.

Several major campus construction projects outlined in the Elon Commitment strategic plan are under way, with completion expected this summer on some work, while other projects are getting started. Following this spring’s construction bidding process, timelines for several projects have been established.
UNC standout Charlotte Smith named Elon’s new head women’s basketball coach

Former college and professional basketball star Charlotte Smith was introduced June 22 as Elon's new head women's basketball coach. Smith has spent the last nine years as an assistant coach at her alma mater, UNC-Chapel Hill, where she had an All-American career topped by a last-second shot that earned UNC the national title in 1995.
Bloomberg Businessweek ranks Elon’s business program among nation’s best

Bloomberg Businessweek ranks Elon's Martha and Spencer Love School of Business among the nation's top undergraduate business programs in its 2011 rankings, which were released March 3. Elon ranks #26 in academic quality and receives an "A" grade for facilities and services.
UNC-TV to air Elon’s Convocation for Honors Thursday, June 23

Greg Mader ’11 named Elon youth trustee

The Elon University Board of Trustees has elected spring 2011 graduate Greg Mader to a two-year term as youth trustee on the board. Mader is a Durham, N.C., native who received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics.
