The 2010 U.S. Census must get an accurate count of everyone living in the U.S., including domestic and international students attending Elon University. Students living away from home while attending college will be counted at their on-campus or off-campus address, not at their parent’s address. Completing the census here will not affect a student’s residency in his or her home state. Students residing on campus should complete the census forms in their area office (Greek Life Office in Moseley for those residing in Loy Center) between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on March 31 or April 1. Off-campus students should have recently received a census form in the mail. All students living at the address are considered one household, so roommates should fill out a single form.

Alison Morrison-Shetlar, vice provost and dean of undergraduate studies at the University of Central Florida, Orlando, Fla., has been named dean of Elon College, the College of Arts and Sciences, and professor of biology at Elon University. Her appointment by Provost Steven House comes after a national search.

The Office of University Relations received four awards in the 2009 competition sponsored by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District III. The annual competition recognizes outstanding achievement in concept and execution of programs for institutional advancement.

Ali Ford of the Phoenix women’s basketball team was named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year by both the Southern Conference Sports Media Association and the 11 head coaches. Ford became the second straight Elon player to receive the award, after Tiara Gause picked up the honor last season. Ford was also the only underclassman named to the coaches’ All-Southern Conference team.
