"The Peace Process in Colombia" Marcia Mejía Chirimia speaks about how communities and organizations are working for a better future on Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. in the McBride Gathering Space in the Numen Lumen Pavilion.

Witness for Peace speaker Julia Vallejos will share her personal story of working in a free trade zone in her community in Nicaragua. She will also give her perspectives on free trade policies and U.S. corporate practices that have affected her community and the choices consumers can make to support alternative trade models.

The National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society inducted 17 new members at a ceremony on May 5th.

Professor Glenda Crawford in the School of Education and April Post, a lecturer in the Department of Foreign Languages, presented their work, titled “Applying Ethnographic Strategies to Enhance Transformation in University Students through Cross-Disciplinary Academic Service-Learning,” at the 2nd International Conference on Education, Economy and Society in Paris, France on July 22.

Glenda Crawford, professor of education, and April Post, lecturer in foreign languages, co-presented their research at the Second International Conference on Service-Learning in Teacher Education, June 25-27, 2009 in Galway, Ireland.

The students were recognized for their achievement at an induction ceremony on April 28.
