Peter Jakes '17, Nathan Pool '17, Michelle Rave '17, Kelly Reagan '17 and Jade Schrader '16 gave presentations at the 12th Annual Regional Mathematics and Statistics Conference held at UNC-Greensboro on Nov. 11-12.

Nicole Miles '15, Chris Shill '14, Erin Strosnider '14, and A.L. Hook Associate Professor of Mathematics Chad Awtrey published a paper in the October 2016 issue of JP Journal of Algebra, Number Theory, and Applications.

Kristen Abernathy, assistant professor of mathematics at Winthrop University in South Carolina, spoke to a crowd of 51 students and faculty about her research in the areas of analysis and mathematical modeling on Thursday, Sept. 29.

Roland Minton, professor of mathematics at Roanoke College, gave a guest lecture titled, "The Curious Case of the Dog Who Could Do Calculus," on May 4.

Elon's chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon, the national math honor society, and Elon's Statistics Club hosted statistician Dr. Sat Gupta (UNC-Greensboro) for a guest lecture on applied statistics on April 5, 2016.

A.L. Hook Assistant Professor Chad Awtrey and alumni Brett Barkley '15, Nicole Miles '15, Chris Shill '14, and Erin Strosnider '14 published their paper, "Degree 12 2-adic fields with automorphism group of order 4", in the most recent issue of the Rocky Mountain Journal of Mathematics.

 

Greg Mader '11, a doctoral student in Biomathematics at N.C. State University, spoke Feb. 24 to a crowd of 32 students and faculty about his life as a graduate student.
