Amy Allocco presents a paper at an international conference in Bhutan

Amy L. Allocco, an assistant professor in the Department of Religious Studies, presented a paper titled “Making Mountains out of Anthills at a South Indian Goddess Temple” at a conference organized around the theme “Mountains in the Religions of South and Southeast Asia: Place, Culture, and Power” in the capital city of Thimphu in the Kingdom of Bhutan.

University message on the death of Lauren Astley ’15

Incoming freshman Lauren Astley '15 of Wayland, Mass., was killed this week in her hometown. As her family, friends and future Elon classmates mourn her loss, Smith Jackson, vice president for student life and dean of students, emailed the university community on July 6, 2011, with reflections on Astley's accomplishments and her service to the community.

Elon alumni Eddie Bridges '57 and the late Claude Manzi '50 will be among 14 individuals inducted into the Guilford County (N.C.) Sports Hall of Fame in the Class of 2011, a group that will bring the total number of inductees since the Hall's creation to 78.
Alumni Field House achieves LEED Gold certification

Multi-faith Center to use wood from fallen trees

Two trees that towered over Elon University for decades were felled Wednesday morning, and the dried wood from both will be featured in the future Numen-Lumen Pavilion, which will house a multi-faith center planned for the very site in the Academic Village where the giant oaks once stood.

Family and friends of former Elon First Lady Verona Daniels Danieley ’49 celebrated her life Monday afternoon as hundreds of mourners filled Elon Community Church for a memorial service that honored a woman who “set the gold standard as a builder of community.”
