This semester’s edition marks the 19th in the history of the Elon Journal, the nation’s first and only undergraduate research journal in communications.

Elon alumna Shelby McKay ’13, senior academic advisor at George Washington University, provided a keynote address at the May 7 awards ceremony, highlighting her professional path and the influence of Elon’s community, while also sharing words of wisdom with the soon-to-be graduates.

Cinelon Productions will host its annual film festival on Thursday, May 2, in Turner Theatre. The festival begins with a red-carpet event at 5:30 p.m., followed by film screenings at 6:30 p.m.

School of Communications students Sarah Stone ’19 and Emery Eisner ’22 visited The Burlington School on April 29, reflecting on their experiences serving on the yearbook staff and offering insights on how their college publication comes together.

On Tuesday, April 30, elondocs will screen 13 audio, video and photo documentaries produced by students in the program. The showcase begins at 6 p.m. in Turner Theatre.

The School of Communications chapter of Lambda Pi Eta hosted an April 24 induction ceremony welcoming 105 new members.

Former NBA Commissioner David Stern’s keynote address provided the kickoff for the inaugural symposium, featuring two panel discussions about the legalization and regulation of sports betting and its potential business impact across North Carolina and elsewhere.

Ten communications faculty and staff members attended the 2019 Broadcast Education Association conference and Festival of Media Arts, where Assistant Professor Doug Kass was recognized for his public service announcement promoting the United Nations AIDS outreach program.

During its annual awards ceremony, hosted April 18 in Turner Theatre, the school acknowledged high achievement from students, faculty and staff.
