As part of the 2018 Coca-Cola and Regal Films student film competition, an Elon team received $15,000 to produce a 35-second film highlighting the moviegoing experience.

The chair of the Communications Department presented a paper on using design thinking as a curriculum strategy to build study abroad courses that are well-thought-out and flexible to build students’ global confidences and encourage creative thinking. 

“Young Filmmakers of Ethiopia,” a one-hour documentary produced by the associate professor of communications, will be shown at the Broadcast Education Association’s On-Location Conference, held at the University of Houston Oct. 18-20.

Seventeen members and guests of the School of Communications Advisory Board visited campus on Sept. 28 to discuss their professional industries, share their expertise, and speak with eight classes.

Started by the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, the national initiative encourages individuals to engage with news and raises awareness about the importance of staying informed. 

The School of Communications program, which partners with Elon Athletics to broadcast university sporting events, streamed Elon’s football game against New Hampshire during Family Weekend.

The lecturer in the School of Communications is one of five award recipients recognized with the National Scholastic Press Association’s highest accolade for journalism educators.

Seventeen members of Elon News Network stayed on campus last week to cover the impact of Hurricane Florence, regularly updating the campus on the unpredictable nature of the storm and the effects it had on community members.
