In a June seminar in Australia, Elon Law’s David S. Levine shared preliminary results of an empirical study assessing when and why software and biotechnology startups now use secrecy laws – rather than filing for patents or copyrights – to protect their intellectual property.

“Diverse Philosophical Approaches to Sexual Violence” was a two-week institute led by Philosophy Professor Ann Cahill and funded by a $112,000 National Endowment for the Humanities grant. 

Jeffrey Carpenter, associate professor and director of Teaching Fellows, gave four presentations and received a research paper award at the Annual Conference of the International Society of Technology in Education.

Clay Stevenson, a lecturer in music at Elon, presented on topics relative to a cappella vocal production and crowd-sourcing for the independent musician.

Associate Professor Tony Weaver, Assistant Professor Cara McFadden and Elon graduate Drew Forte ’15 explored the perceptions of higher education administrators regarding the role club sports play in recruiting and retaining male students.

Brian Kremer, assistant professor of music theatre, presented "The Singing Teacher's Guide to Transgender Voices" at the 47th Annual Voice Foundation Symposium: Care of the Professional Voice in Philadelphia.  

Jeffrey Carpenter, associate professor of education and director of the Teaching Fellows program, co-authored the article in the peer-reviewed journal "TechTrends."

Matthew Valle, Martha and Spencer Love professor of business and professor of management, and colleagues have published a report on a series of investigations of a newly developed measure of psychological needs.

Elon's Doctor of Physical Therapy program was represented well at the American College of Sports Medicine 2017 Conference in Denver, CO. Haley Hawkins, a 2nd year DPT student also won a travel scholarship at the Conference.

Jen Hamel, assistant professor of biology, presented research at the Animal Behavior Society 2017 conference in Toronto, Ontario.
