Phoenix baseball team eliminated from NCAA regional

June 1, 2008

The no. 2 seed UNC Wilmington Seahawks posted 11 runs in the top of the ninth inning to down the no. 3 seed Elon Phoenix 15-11 on June 1. The loss ends Elon's competition in this year's NCAA post-season play.

Elon wins Southern Conference Baseball Tournament

The Elon Phoenix defeated the College of Charleston Cougars 17-8 on May 25 to claim the 2008 SoCon tournament title.  Elon improved to 43-16 and claims the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division I baseball tournament.

The Elon Phoenix will enter the upcoming 2008 Southern Conference Baseball Championship as the number one seed after winning the regular season title outright with a 19-8 SoCon mark. The Phoenix finished one game ahead of College of Charleston (18-9) whose loss on the last day of the regular season gave Elon the title outright. It is the second SoCon title for Elon in three seasons.
