Students engage in the overlap of interfaith work and environmentalism with local communities during Kernodle Alternative Spring Break Trip.

The Alternative Break experience took on a new form this year as student volunteers traveled across North Carolina’s Piedmont region to perform local acts of service.

The initiative, made possible through $300,000 in grant funding from the Scripps Howard Foundation, will support journalism in diverse and underserved communities, educating high school juniors and seniors from North Carolina and surrounding areas who are interested in pursuing careers in journalism and the media industry.

Elon faculty and students from Departments of Physical Therapy Education, Exercise Science and Performing Arts partnered with educational institutions in India to virtually conduct the first National Biomechanics Day event in India.

The senior elementary education major and environmental education minor recently published an article in the international journal Environmental Education Research on the role of gender in nature-based learning experiences, and is immersed in the classroom as a student-teacher.

The designation by nonpartisan organizations Fair Elections Center’s Campus Vote Project and NASPA – Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education recognizes efforts by Elon to encourage voter registration and participation during the 2020 elections.

The annual service opportunities will take place closer to campus this year, with students invited to work with community organizations in programs taking place March 19-21.
