Elon Law professor David Levine was a featured guest on WUNC radio's The State of Things on August 19. Levine discussed the Protect-IP Act, legislation under consideration in Congress that sponsors describe as an effort to protect online intellectual property, but critics say would be a threat to free speech and open Internet.

Janet MacFall, in the Department of Environmental Studies, presented a research paper at the recent annual meeting of the Ecological Society of America. The paper, "Enzyme activity in hyporheic soils of Piedmont streams," was based on research done over the past two years and was co-authored with student Danielle Whitman.

Lynne Kurdziel Formato, associate professor of performing arts, choreographed a professional production of "FAME" for Artpark in Lewiston, N.Y. Directed by Randy Kramer, the show featured 11 current students or alumni of Elon's music theatre program, including Raphael Andrews, Maddie Franke, Clark Kinkade, Em Laudeman, Jared Loftin, Guy Mannick, Ben Redding, Sean Ronayne, Leela Rothenberg, Lucy Ann Werner and Tanner Wilson.
