SURE student Jenny Kane '18 and Assistant Professor of Chemistry Jen Dabrowski presented their research on conversion of biorenewable resources to fine chemicals at the annual Southeast Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society (SERMACS) in Charlotte, N.C.

As part of the project, more than 100 trees were planted along the Greensboro Greenway to increase urban tree canopy.

Elon students, faculty and staff are invited to help plant trees along the Greensboro Greenway on Dec. 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Running strong in its 10th year, the program will aid yet another diverse group of faculty in integrating sustainability into new and existing courses across campus.

The fall semester competition challenged Elon students, faculty, and staff to reduce energy use.

"Solar Financing in North Carolina: The Untapped Potential of Power Purchase Agreements" by Associate Professor Andy Haile was published in the most recent issue of the North Carolina Law Review.

The Environmental Advisory Council and the Office of Sustainability are conducting a Sustainability Survey to assess attitudes and behaviors of Elon University students, faculty and staff related to sustainability.

The honor is bestowed upon colleges and universities around the country that have made exceptional commitments to the environment and sustainability through academic offerings and career preparation for students, campus policies, initiatives and activities.

Students in courses taught by Susan Manring, associate professor of management, have been working with Biodiesel 4 Schools, an N.C. company that focuses on turning waste cooking oil into biodiesel to fuel school buses.

The competition on campus this fall is an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to win prizes for conserving energy.
