The "Opening Doors" story series celebrates the power of scholarships to change the lives of Elon students and the generosity of donors who make this transformation possible.

The 5,100-seat, 160,000-square-foot facility will provide a premier gathering space for major campus events and serve as the new home for Elon's basketball and volleyball programs when it opens next year.

The gift from Robert A. Clohan III ’67, the late Elon alumnus, parent and grandparent, and his son, alumnus and Trustee Charles R. Clohan ’98, will support construction of Sankey Hall. In recognition of the gift from one of Elon's most generous families, the university will rename Colonnades Dining Hall as Clohan Hall on Thursday, Dec. 7 at 4:15 p.m.

The annual gathering will begin at 6:45 p.m. on Scott Plaza and will offer an opportunity for the Elon Community to mark the season's start with music, festive lights and treats. 

Inspired by Elon's commitment to scholarship funding, retired faculty member Nancy Midgette, of Montreat, North Carolina, decided to support students in the Odyssey Program with her gift.

More than 20 class and affinity groups hosted milestone reunion celebrations on campus during Homecoming weekend, Nov. 3-5. 

For the fourth year, alumni and senior class donors will be recognized at the holiday celebration on Dec. 5.

The Sam and Vicky Hunt Scholarship will assist two students each year in the Odyssey Program, a highly selective program for students with exceptional ability and promise and significant financial need.

The AIDS Drug Assistance Program, which provides medications for the treatment of HIV disease, named Pund its Champion of the Year.
