The Elon Biology Department hosted two days of demonstrations, reenacting the prehistoric human migrations from Africa 100,000 years ago, to help supplement the first-year common reading selection "Futureface," by author and journalist Alex Wagner.

Assistant Professor of Biology Jen Hamel and biology major and Elon College Fellow Alina Iwan ’19 presented research at Behaviour 2019, a joint meeting of the Animal Behavior Society and the International Conference on Ethology.

Planning Week marks the start of the academic year and provides an opportunity for faculty receiving funding from the Faculty Research and Development Committee to present their work.

Wednesday's poster session offered nearly 40 Elon students the opportunity to share the progress they made on a range of research topics through the Summer Undergraduate Research Experience, one of Elon's signature program.

Elon hosted middle school students from the Alamance-Burlington School System for a five-day science camp focused on citizen science projects and summer enrichment. 

The poster summarized three years of ethnobotanical work by Bush, assistant professor of biology and research fellow at the Center for New North Carolinians at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Hamel and co-author from the University of Missouri published an empirical study in a special issue of the journal.

Nick Ciolkowski ’19 is among the recipients of the Lumen Prize, which provides selected students with a scholarship and celebrates their academic and creative accomplishments.
