Voices of Discovery lecture to focus on climate change and coral reefs – Feb. 18

Nancy Knowlton, a renowned expert on coral reefs, visits Elon University this month as the 2008-2009 Voices of Discovery series continues with a talk on the impact of climate change on the planet's reef systems. Knowlton's lecture on Feb. 18 is free and open to the public starting at 7:30 p.m. in McCrary Theatre.

Brant Touchette featured in Coastwatch

Brant Touchette, an associate professor of biology and environmental studies, was featured in a recent publication of Coastwatch. The article, "Research Grows Future Scientists," shows Touchette and his students in their study of the Black Needlerush, a species found in coastal estuaries and marshes.

Elon campus tour highlights sustainable practices

Coker receives grant for plant biology project

Jeffrey Coker, an assistant professor of biology at Elon, and a team of two additional biology professors have received a $30,000 grant from the American Society of Plant Biologists Education Foundation for their science education outreach program. It is the second grant in as many years for the team.
