Black History Month

In this edition of #ElonTBT, we mark the start of Black History Month with a look back at an important moment in Elon’s black history and how it shaped the university’s curriculum today.

The Center for Race, Ethnicity and Diversity Education partnered with Archives and Special Collections to host the official beginning of Elon's Black History Month festivities.

More than 30 conference attendees learned of Elon’s efforts to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion through academic library and cultural center partnerships.

Directed by Jason Aryeh with guest artist Gaspard Louis. One performance in McCrary Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free, no ticket required. 

At the second History and Geography Department Trivia Night of the year in the Historic Neighborhood, students tested their knowledge of African-American history in honor of Black History Month.  

A lineup of events in February will honor African-American contributions to the campus and the world as Elon University celebrates Black History Month.

The deputy director of member services for U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi was the featured speaker at the annual program honoring top black students at Elon.

Associate Professor of English Prudence Layne, coordinator of the university's African & African-American Studies program, was interviewed on the live radio show “Both Sides of the Story,” a program that is broadcasted live on Power 106 FM radio in Jamaica.

Elon students are invited to come to Moseley Center on Thursday, April 3 to learn more about African & African-American Studies at Elon.
