The rise of online social networks, coupled with the ability for anyone with a computer to create information, has shifted the way students learn – and professors must adapt in the classroom, said Mike Wesch, a cultural anthropologist who spoke on campus Aug. 21 at a conference for educators from across the region. 

Seven local high school teachers and eight Elon professors developed plans for conducting classroom research in the upcoming academic year during an Aug. 4-6, 2008, institute held on campus.

The William Henry Belk Pavilion, home to the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning, was formally dedicated May 1 when members of the Belk family traveled to Elon University for a ceremony attended by dozens of faculty and staff.

The chair of the psychology department at Elon has been named the first faculty associate director of the Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning.
