School of Communications

A team of 20 School of Communications students prepared and led by four faculty and staff is providing the only full-day journalistic coverage of the multi-event Internet Governance Forum-USA at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.

Erin Barnett '09 edited and co-wrote the film "The Great Hack," which explores data exploitation through personal stories surrounding the Facebook/Cambridge Analytica scandal that influenced the 2016 U.S. presidential election. 

Brooks Fuller, director of the North Carolina Open Government Coalition and Sunshine Center and instructor of journalism, offers his perspective about a town charging a fee of $70,000 to a local newspaper to fulfill a public records request. 

The managing editor of The Pendulum, Elon News Network’s student newspaper, was named both the Best News Reporter in the South and the Best Feature Writer in the South.

In this column distributed by the Elon University Writers Syndicate, Associate Professor of Communications Tom Nelson sheds light on the evolution of the national anthem during and after World War I. The column was published in the Greensboro News & Record. 

The recent Elon graduate was named the Hokies’ director of player development, hired to assist the Atlantic Coast Conference program with coaching and development strategies, while utilizing new analytics software and equipment.
