The renowned footwear designer and philanthropist captivated a full house at Elon University as he shared “Stu-isms” and strategies that propelled his iconic brand to global success.

Presented by the School of Communications Inclusive Excellence Committee, the interactive event brought together students, faculty, staff and alumni to discuss a broad range of issues related to inclusivity in communications, journalism and the media.

This event is for students who are serious about landing a dream internship, a full-time job, or simply connecting with industry leaders.

Amanda Sturgill, associate professor of journalism, spoke with The Guardian about the #AltGov movement, a group of federal employees pushing back against federal workforce cuts by the Trump Administration.

Hosted by the school’s Inclusive Excellence Committee, the interactive event will bring together students, faculty and staff to explore topics such as investigative journalism, media diversity, health disparities, and sports equity, with a special emphasis on undergraduate research advancing DEI efforts.

Elon University students captured 11 awards in the 2025 BEA Festival of Media Arts, an international competition recognizing excellence in digital media and broadcasting. Most notably, Brandon Cericola ’26 and Kate Rivera ’25 turned their Audio for Sound and Digital Media class assignment into a Best of Festival award.

In collaboration with her co-authors, the assistant professor of communication design recently examined how serious games – video games designed for purposes beyond entertainment – can tackle important social issues like school bullying.
