Ocek Eke, an assistant professor of Communications, authored a chapter in the new textbook and anthology "Understanding the Global Experience: Becoming a Responsible World Citizen," which was edited by Elon faculty members Tom Arcaro and Rosemary Haskell.

Randy Piland Creates Web Site for ‘Boy Scout Handbook’

Randy Piland has been active in the Boy Scouts since he was 11 years old. He's an Eagle Scout and has always enjoyed being a part of the Boy Scouts of America, so he continually looks for ways to give back to an organization that gave him so much. Piland used this summer to design completely a Flash-based Web site companion to the 12th edition of the "Boy Scout Handbook."

Harlen Makemson Presents Research about His Book at FRD Session

Harlen Makemson, an associate professor in the School of Communications, delivered a presentation of his research based on his book "Media, NASA, and America's Quest for the Moon" Aug. 27 in a session sponsored by the Faculty Research and Development committee, through which Makemson received some money to complete the work.

Faculty and students kick off SURF 2009

Work by Elon University students and professors took center stage Tuesday morning in the opening hours of SURF 2009. More than 30 faculty members presented research in the second annual "Celebration of Faculty Scholarship," which segued into a special College Coffee in the Koury Business Center for dozens of students to share their research findings in a poster session that packed the building's concourse.
