Chris Bell ’92, Kathie Sink Niven ’89, LaToya Marcus Faustin ’04 G’10, Rich Johnson ’87 P’17 and Laurie Johnson P’17 were honored during the annual Distinguished Alumni Awards Ceremony on March 24.

The fourth annual event, held at Elon University’s School of Communications, will explore the theme of “Sport Sponsorship and Branding in the Digital Age,” and features two panel discussions delving into technology and social media use, as well as how college athletes are leveraging their name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights.

The Winter Term course exposed the Fellows to different communications industries and promoted bonding among the first-year cohort.

These Elon associate professors also have leadership roles at ISA's International Communication Section and ISA's Governing Council, respectively.

Coordinated by Associated Professor of Sport Management Shaina Dabbs, nearly 30 students assisted with game-day operations, on-court promotions and other tournament festivities during the five-day competition.

The Elon University graduate captured a thunderous collision between Tennessee Titans safety Theo Jackson and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Tyler Huntley, leading to recognition in competitions hosted by Pictures of the Year International and the National Press Photographers Association.

The annual conference held during Sunshine Week will feature a keynote presentation by Meredith Clark and Tracie Powell on the challenges and opportunities facing BIPOC-led news organizations. Registration is now open.
