Sinn, an assistant professor of history, joined the Elon faculty in 2016 and is also director of Elon’s Jewish Studies program.

President Connie Ledoux Book presented the medallion to a retired faculty member, a retired staff member and a long-time Cone Health executive and supporter of the School of Health Sciences. Faculty members selected for named professorships were also honored as the faculty/staff Planning Week got underway. 

Associate Professor of Art History Evan Gatti presented "Things They Carry Re-Presented: Episcopal Simulacra or Decorative Ephemera,” presided over two sessions on Gender, Identity, & the Medieval Bishop & the Secular Clergy, and moderated the Brevia on Bishops & the Secular Clergy in the Middle Ages at the International Medieval Congress in Leeds, England.

Associate Professor of Art History Evan A. Gatti co-organized a 2-day conference held at Sarum College on the role of the medieval bishop as patron. 

“Waiting in the Midfield” highlights the life of Omar Alhamwi, a Syrian refugee and former professional soccer player, as he makes a new life for himself in Greensboro. The film will air on Wednesday, May 29, at 9 p.m., with replays the following day.

Evan A. Gatti, associate professor of art history and associate director of the Elon Core Curriculum, presented "Drawn in Ink With Love: Desire in Looking at and Looking Back” and "Re-Presentation and a Theology of Images" at the International Medieval Studies Congress in Kalamazoo, Michigan. 

Elon continues to build upon its reputation as a top producer of Fulbright award winners with members of the Class of 2019 who will be teaching in Mexico, the Czech Republic, South Korea and Malaysia through the prestigious program. 

At the annual Faculty/Staff Awards Luncheon on May 15, the Elon community honored 11 faculty members and six staff members who are retiring this year.

Benjamin Morse ’15, Carter Speers ’17 and Matthew Gladstone ’18 were among the members of the Boston Red Sox organization to receive championship rings during the team’s 2019 home opener.
