Demand for oil will continue to climb as nations like China and India grow in the coming decade, and according to a top oil executive on campus Tuesday as part of International Education Week, companies must make additional investments in petroleum production to meet that crucial need.

Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, an event that symbolized a beginning to the end of the Cold War, an Elon University professor in Europe at the time reflects on his trip with students to see the massive concrete wall separating the city crumble, and how German residents responded to their newfound freedom.

R. Casey Olson, executive vice president of Occidental Petroleum, will discuss his experience working in the Middle East during a presentation on Tuesday, Nov. 17, at 4:15 p.m. in the LaRose Digital Theatre of the Koury Business Center.

From teaching science through engaged learning in India, to experiences living in Berlin for a summer, Elon University students shared research and stories in McKinnon Hall on Thursday evening in the second annual Study Abroad Forum, an event designed to celebrate and recognize their work.

The second annual Elon University Study Abroad Forum takes place Thursday afternoon, with faculty and students scheduled to share their research and showcase achievements from their experiences in foreign nations. A program for the Oct. 29 event is now available online.

The Isabella Cannon Centre for International Studies announces the publication of the newsletter of the 2009-2010 year. A pdf of the newsletter can be found on the ICCIS website at the link to the upper right. The ICCIS will publish newsletters each semester and an archive of the newsletters will be on the ICCIS website in the near future.
