Associate Professor of Journalism Amanda Sturgill spoke on misinformation and tensions leading up to the 2020 presidential election for Perth, Australia, radio station RTR FM.

Adam Giardino, a broadcaster with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, spoke to students about his start in the broadcasting industry and his role as president of the Black Play-by-Play Broadcaster Grant and Scholarship Fund.

The School of Communications juniors teamed up with Elon alumnus Nathan Moore ’02, the film’s producer, to create content for promotion and social media in advance of the VOD release of the Ukrainian-American historical action film.

In this latest offering from the Elon University Writers Syndicate, Associate Professor of Journalism Amanda Sturgill focuses on how public officials often use deceptive language or specious arguments to distort the truth. It draws from her new book, “Detecting Deception: Tools to Fight Fake News,” published in August.

Ten alumni participated in a Sept. 21 Zoom call to welcome first-year students to Elon and the school’s accelerated training program for news reporting, documentary filmmaking and non-fiction storytelling.
