Human rights advocate and leader of the Xinka Indigenous people from Guatemala, Sheny Lemus, along with other activists, visited Elon as part of a North Carolina tour hosted by US-based organizations Witness for Peace Southeast, the Iximché Media, and the Network in Solidarity with the People of Guatemala.

Assistant Professor Francisco "Paco" Chen-López brought fresh perspectives on Latin American identity during his visit to Elon University. Through his keynote address and classroom visits, he revealed how Chinese migration has impacted Latin American history and culture.

In his commentary, Blake analyzed Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness’ historic third-term electoral victory.

Blake and his co-authors examine South–to-South Security Cooperation between Mexico and the Caribbean on the problem of illegal guns trafficked from the US into Mexico and the Caribbean.

The Department of World Languages and Cultures, in collaboration with Sigma Delta Pi Honor Society and Global Neighborhood, hosted Lula Carballo, a Canadian author whose family migrated to Canada from Uruguay, and Émilie Guerette, a Canadian documentary filmmaker.

Four members of the Class of 2024 and one member of the Class of 2023 have been selected for the prestigious program that offers opportunities for recent graduates in more than 140 countries. Five have been selected as alternates.

Movies shown during the festival reflected on the collective and individual capacity for empowerment to survive challenging socio-economic conditions, live in territories affected by environmental crises, and experience persecution and criminalization of struggles for justice in Latin America.

This exhibition consists of thirteen posters created by artists Calixto Robles (Mexico, born 1957) and René Castro (Chile, born 1943).

Blake, an associate professor in the Department of Political Science & Policy Studies shares his research and analysis on violence in the Jamaica Observer newspaper. The article is entitled, Gangster's Paradise? Culture and the cost of violence in Jamaica. The article explores how a sub-culture of violence is gripping parts of the island triggering annual increases in gun crimes and homicides.
