Beginning this fall, alumni and parents are being encouraged to join the Elon Career Network (ECN), a new resource offered through Elon Career Services that allows students to connect with Elon alumni, parents and other supporters by using an online database that can be searched by profession, major, graduate degrees and current home location.

Family Weekend will be held Sept. 26-28 on Elon’s campus. Activities include a golf tournament, concerts and the Elon vs. Samford football game.

Elon University School of Law hosted its first "Family and Friends Day" on Sept. 13, 2008, with more than 250 students, parents, siblings, spouses, and friends spending the morning at the law school for a mock class and a question-and-answer panel.

Parents, grandparents and members of the Elon community are invited to hear nationally known humorist Jeanne Robertson perform on Friday, Sept. 26, as part of Family Weekend 2008. 

Elon University earns a top national ranking in a new feature included in the 2009 U.S. News & World Report “America’s Best Colleges” guide. The magazine named Elon the top "School to Watch" in a listing of colleges and universities that have made “striking improvements or innovations – schools everyone should be watching.”

Elon University has launched a new sustainability web site to provide an overview of its sustainability initiative. The site serves as a resource for the campus community to learn about sustainable practices and programs at Elon, to raise environmental awareness and participation, and to foster new ideas.

A team of students led by communications professor Connie Book traveled to Wilmington, N.C., on Sept. 8 to document what happened when the first American media market made the historic switch from analog to digital television.
