On Wednesday, April 14, Elon University hosted high schoolers from ABSS Career and Technical Education Center to learn about biomechanics and health careers through student-led virtual activities and discussion. This was the sixth year celebrating National Biomechanics Day after last year's on-campus event had to be cancelled.

Paula DiBiasio, associate professor in physical therapy and GLO program coordinator, and Danielle Lake, director of design thinking and associate professor, are partnering with Doctor of Physical Therapy program students and Global Learning Opportunities (GLO) program alumni to co-design the future of GLO. DiBiasio envisions a more flexible program that positively impacts healthcare disparities by promoting students’ development of skills related to engaging with difference sensitively and equitably.
Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant programs enroll newest classes

Elon’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program and Physician Assistant Studies program welcomed new classes of students following a highly selective admissions process. The three-year, full-time DPT Program enrolled 48 students while the 24-month, full-time PA Program enrolled 38 students.

In a research study that was done completely virtually and funded by the Parkinson’s Foundation, Department of Performing Arts in collaboration with Department of Physical Therapy Education successfully offered classes based on the Mark Morris Dance for Parkinson’s Disease program virtually to five individuals.
