The cinema and television arts alum earned a top-prize award in the Broadcast Education Association’s 2023 Festival of Media Arts, an international digital media and broadcast competition for faculty and students that received more than 1,650 entries this year.

The Elon alumnus recounts his first day on campus and how Lela Faye Rich guided him to invest in his interests in English, as well as print and broadcast journalism.

The associate professor and chair of the Sport Management Department was presented with the association’s annual group service award for her efforts on its JDEI Climate Study Steering Committee. Additionally, she will serve as co-editor of the Recreational Sports Journal’s upcoming JDEI special issue.

Twenty-eight students were recognized at the end-of-the-year celebration, including the inaugural recipient of the Christopher Edwards II ’18 Award for Sports Journalism, honoring a graduating senior who has established a record of academic success and demonstrated mastery within sports journalism.

The April 19 event, held at Elon University’s School of Communications, explored the theme of “Sport Sponsorship and Branding in the Digital Age,” and featured a keynote conversation with NASCAR President Steve Phelps.

The local ABC affiliate focused on the presentation of the inaugural Chris Edwards II '18 Award for Sports Journalism on Thursday, April 20, at the awards School of Communications awards ceremony.

The journalism alumna based “Bay Curious: Exploring the Hidden True Stories of the San Francisco Bay Area” on the popular podcast she hosts and produces for KQED.

The strategic communications graduate helped provide publicity and promotion for the hit ABC show “Abbott Elementary” and was honored with Warner Bros. Discovery colleagues during the 60th annual ICG Publicists Awards ceremony.

The School of Communications alumnus was a key contributor to ‘One on One Sports’ and Elon Sports Vision.

The Broadcast Education Association, the premiere international academic media organization, released its second annual rankings celebrating consistent student success in the association’s Festival of Media Arts.
