Seven faculty members will take part in a program that will allow them to incorporate or enhance a focus on sustainable principles and practices in their courses.

Leigh Iler '14, a teaching fellow and Lumen Prize recipient, received the  Outstanding Mathematics Education Award for the Central Region of North Carolina at the annual N.C. Council of Teachers of Mathematics conference on Friday, Nov. 1. 

Five Elon students in a "Children's Literature" course taught by Erin Hone read books to two dozen children from the greater Alamance County community.

A childhood literacy initiative at Elon University will add a summer reading camp to its list of programs for boys and girls in the local community who encounter trouble learning to read.

Seven English (Teacher Licensure) majors attended the NC English Teachers Association conference in Wilmington, N.C., on Oct. 11 to learn new approaches to the classroom and join others in the local professional community.

The entry deadline is Dec. 13, 2013, for a student competition focused on human rights that will award cash prizes totaling $3,600. Categories include: research papers, journalism, electronic media, creative writing, photos, and world languages

The assistant professor in the School of Education has been selected by Phi Delta Kappa International as a part of its 2013-2014 cohort of Emerging Leaders.

Liz Bailey in the Department of Health and Human Performance, joined by two students studying to be physical education teachers, have teamed this year with a Burlington elementary school as part of a national initiative led by First Lady Michelle Obama.
