Kirstin Ringelberg, associate professor of art history and coordinator of Elon's LGBTQ Office, with assistance from student Laura Lee Sturm, was awarded $1,630 from the Alliance for Full Acceptance to support sending student Spectrum members to LGBTQQ conferences.

Three prolific Elon University faculty scholars will receive funding and course reassignments to assist with their ongoing research.

Deborah Thurlow Long, Professor of Education and Elon Academy Director, received a grant in the amount of $169,170 from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund to support her project titled "Let's Move Elon Academy... an Urban Roots Experience."

The National Science Foundation awarded Victoria D. Moore, Assistant Professor of Chemistry, Karl D. Sienerth, Professor of Chemistry, and Kathryn M. Matera, Associate Professor of Chemistry, a grant of $38,685 for their project titled "Acquisition of a Multimode Spectrophotometer by Elon University to Enhance Undergraduate Research and Teaching in Chemistry and Biochemistry."

Paula DiBiasio, Assistant Professor - Physical Therapy Education, received $2000 from The Walking Classroom Institute for Move, Listen & Learn: Integrating Language Arts Instruction with Physical Activity.

Kevin O'Mara, professor of management, received $2,500 from Small Business Technology Development Center to become a Faculty Liason.

Dan Evans, assistant professor of physics, received $25,000 from NASA: Chandra X-ray Observatory Center for The First Spatially Resolved Spectrum of an AGN Outflow in an Early Type Galaxy: A Deep HETG Observation of MRK 3.

Darris Means, associate director of Elon Academy, received $19,891 from North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) for Successful Transitions: Supporting Underrepresented Students to Succeed in High School, College and in Life.
