Elon’s Board of Trustees has named the newsroom on the first floor of McEwen Building in honor of Paul Parsons, who is stepping down as dean May 31.

The journalism major and executive director of Elon News Network attended a four-day workshop at N.C. A&T State University, receiving hands-on experience and practical guidance from broadcast journalists.

Elon University hosted the First Amendment Free Food Festival March 14 to celebrate the rights outlined in the First Amendment.

Elon’s student-run radio station hosted a two-day celebration that included a panel discussion, featuring several former WSOE general managers, and a dinner with a keynote from Tom Mullen ’00, vice president of marketing catalog at Atlantic Records. Additionally, Assistant Professor Gerald Gibson was recognized with an Award of Excellence for his years of mentorship.

The Elon University student media organizations collected three Best of Show awards in a contest hosted by the North Carolina College Media Association.

Barnett, associate provost for academic and inclusive excellence at Elon, was one of eight new directors named to the national organization’s board. 

The two student news organizations placed nationally in a pair of college media competitions.

The second Danieley community dinner of the fall featured a panel discussion about the importance of media literacy.

The award is given to advisers yearly in recognition for their contributions to their campus media outlets.

For the fourth straight year, Elon places in the top 20 of the full Hearst Journalism Awards.
