On January 24, members of the Moot Court Board at Elon Law built on a series of achievements in recent months, with Beth Klein and Chris McLain finishing in the top eight teams at the 35th annual J. Braxton Craven, Jr. Memorial Competition at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The competition drew 24 teams from law schools across the country.

More than thirty law students participated in the North Carolina Bar Association's Wills for Heroes program on Dec. 17.

On January 6, Austin Morris L'12 testified before the North Carolina General Statutes Commission on law governing the naming of debtors on financing statements.

The Elon Law chapter of The Federalist Society hosted a debate at the law school on January 11 between University of Kansas School of Law Professor Stephen Ware and Duke Law Professor Paul Carrington about the best way to select judges.

Anna Arnopolsky, Robert Garner and Dominic Longo, all third-year law students at Elon, were selected by the editorial board of the Journal of Legal Studies in Business (JLSB) to serve as law student staff editors.

The Pro Bono Board will support pro bono initiatives at Elon Law, encourage the student body to participate in pro bono endeavors, and recognize students who demonstrate exceptional commitment to pro bono service.

Student organizations at Elon Law hosted an Oct. 11 panel discussion on marriage equality prompted by the North Carolina General Assembly's recent decision to allow a same-sex marriage ban amendment to go before voters in the May 2012 elections.

Elon law student A. Brennan Aberle '12 writes in a Sunday, Oct. 23 News and Record op-ed that, "Occupy Wall Street is about evening the odds for people whose voices don’t echo as strongly on Capitol Hill."

The first edition of the online Journal of Leadership and the Law was published as a special section of the Elon University School of Law website on October 21. The publication includes articles by lawyers and scholars of law, as well as interviews with attorneys in leadership positions, exploring various dimensions of leadership in the legal profession.

On Sept. 22, the Women's Law Society (WLA) hosted its annual "Little Black Dress" party. The event creates an opportunity for WLA's leadership to introduce new members to the group.
