On February 9, Elon Law hosted the spring meeting of the ABA Fourth Circuit Law Student Division. Three Elon Law students contributed significantly to planning this event: David Lambert L'14, who served as a Lieutenant Governor of the Fourth Circuit Division in 2012 and was elected Governor of the Division at the spring meeting, Jenifer McCrea L’13, who served as Elon Law’s student representative to the ABA this year, and Bill White L’14, who served as Elon Law’s associate student representative to the ABA.

David Lambert, a member of the Class of 2014 at Elon Law, has been elected Governor of the American Bar Association Fourth Circuit Law Student Division representing 17 law schools in four states. His election occurred at the spring meeting of the ABA’s Fourth Circuit Law Student Division, held at Elon Law on February 9.

Third-year Elon Law students Jenifer McCrea and Ashley Poling recently coordinated a forum exploring the benefits of study abroad experiences for law students. In the following article, Poling reports on the panel and reflects on the benefits of international study.

Law students participated in public service work and professional forums through Pro Bono Week at Elon Law. Events were hosted in conjunction with the American Bar Association’s annual National Celebration of Pro Bono.

Third-year Elon Law students Jennifer Meeks Mickle and Will Drath excelled at the Third Annual Legal Ethics and Professionalism Moot Court Competition at Mercer University School of Law on November 16-17. In a strong field of 22 teams from law schools across the country, the team reached the quarterfinals and took Best Petitioner’s Brief honors.

In an attempt to change the way we discuss, debate and educate ourselves about legislation, third-year law student Matthew Wilcut is launching, what he calls, a social network for we, the people.

Two teams from Elon were quarterfinalists at the Twelfth Annual Leroy R. Hassell, Sr. National Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition at Regent University School of Law on October 26-27. The Elon teams were comprised of third-year students Sarah Boshears, Grant Buckner, Gwendolyn Lewis, and Daniel Harris.

The Public Interest Law Society (PILS) at Elon Law was able to provide Elizabeth Duncan, L’13, with a stipend to support her public interest internship over the summer of 2012.

Competing nationally for the first time since the mock trial program was established, members of Elon Law's Student Advocacy Board recently traveled to Tennessee and Washington, D.C. to compete in the National Trial Competition (NTC) and the Student Trial Advocacy Competition (STAC), respectively, earning high marks from competition judges and faculty.
