Biking an average of 80 miles a day for two full months, Elon University sophomore Dani Schenk will travel across the southern United States this summer to raise money for a national nonprofit agency that builds homes for low-income families.

Six students will travel to the remote highlands of central Morocco this month as part of a service trip to tutor children learning English and to observe firsthand how residents of the impoverished region are developing profitable cottage industries.

If you look back far enough – 130,000 years, to be exact – people today share a common ancestor. For the Right Rev. Michael B. Curry, who delivered the sermon May 23 at Baccalaureate, that bond requires Elon graduates to leave what he called this “sacred place” and to always treat others as family.
