Elon’s Multifaith Internship has a focus on how experiential learning fosters multifaith understanding.

Buddhist monk Geshe Sangpo of the Kadampa Center in Raleigh will visit Elon from Wednesday, Sept. 14 to Friday, Sept. 16 to construct a Green Tara Sand Mandala, a delicate artwork symbolizing healing and peace.

Through a two-year fellows program, the five juniors of this interdisciplinary cohort will participate in specialized coursework, faculty-mentored undergraduate research, campus leadership, and community engagement in multifaith contexts.

The associate chaplain for Muslim life, Atkinson received the grant for his work researching waning forms of vocal and spiritual worship.

Rev. Julie Tonnesen offered words, and Rabbi Maor Greene performed original music at the first Numen Lumen gathering of the academic year.

Reverend Julie Tonnesen is now associate university chaplain and Hillary Zaken will serve as interim assistant dean of Multifaith Engagement in the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life.

Greene will serve on the staff of the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life and work with the Elon Hillel community
