Elon students win national sales competition

Elon University seniors Meg Anderson and Charley Costa won top honors last weekend at the 2010 Russ Berrie Institute National Sales Challenge at William Paterson University in New Jersey. Their achievements marked the second time in a month that students from the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business finished first in a national competition that attracted teams from some of the nation's leading business programs.

Earl Honeycutt named first Martha and Spencer Love Term Professor

Earl Honeycutt, a professor of marketing at Elon University since 2002, has been named the first Martha and Spencer Love Term Professor, an honor established by a gift from the Martha and Spencer Love Foundation that was announced during the business school’s 25th anniversary gala in February.
Sierra Club names Elon one of “America’s Coolest Schools”

For the third consecutive year, the Sierra Club has ranked Elon University one of the nation’s top 100 “greenest universities.” The ranking, published in Sierra’s September/October 2011 magazine recognizes schools in 10 categories that include academics, waste management, energy efficiency, food, purchasing, transportation, financial and other factors.
Tony Crider researches impact of role-playing games in the classroom

Tony Crider, associate professor of physics, is always searching for creative ways to engage students with course material. To help his astronomy students learn about planetary science and the classification of the former planet Pluto, he created a science game called “The Pluto Debate.”

Robert Moorman joins Elon as Frank S. Holt, Jr. Professor of Business Leadership

Robert H. Moorman joins Elon University’s faculty this month as the Frank S. Holt, Jr., Professor of Business Leadership in the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business. Named in honor of the former president of Holt Manufacturing Co. in Burlington, N.C., the professorship honors the vision, leadership and compassion that were trademarks of Frank Holt’s career.
New campus bookstore opens in Elon Town Center

Elon University’s campus bookstore opened for business Monday morning in the Elon Town Center on Williamson Avenue with students, faculty, staff and local citizens visiting a shop offering an expanded selection of college apparel, general interest books and school supplies.
Elon’s Beta Alpha Psi receives Gold chapter status

Elon’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the honorary organization for financial information students and professionals, was awarded “Gold chapter” status during the national organization’s annual conference this month in Denver. Elon was one of seven chapters to achieve the honor, which is the highest award level a chapter can receive.
President Lambert delivers opening of school address
