The national switch to digital television broadcasting on Friday spurred hundreds of calls to a phone bank at Elon University, where students and staff from the Federal Communications Commission assisted North Carolina viewers with complaints of lost TV signals or requests for analog-to-digital converter box coupons.

Public access to Belk Library limited for interior work

The first floor of Belk Library is getting new carpeting starting June 29. The library will remain open during this period, but the front doors will be locked to walk-in traffic. Instead, Elon students, faculty, and staff should use their Phoenix Cards in the card swipe reader to the right of the front doors for access. Computers will be available on the second floor, and library staff will circulate materials as usual. The project is expected to take two to three weeks to complete. All information will be posted on the front doors with a phone number for those needing help. Belk Library will not be open to visitors and community users except in unusual circumstances. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to use the library as they normally would but must have their Phoenix Card to gain access.

Holland House moves across campus June 13-14

A historic Elon University building will be lifted from its original location this weekend and moved nearly half a mile, across railroad tracks, to make room for a plaza to be constructed at the front of the Academic Village area on campus.
