The generous gift from Elon Trustee Louis DeJoy and his wife, Dr. Aldona Wos, of Greensboro, North Carolina, will assist students with exceptional ability and high financial need from Title I schools in Guilford County.

The gifts from Don Chaplin and Andy Hunt, of Burlington, North Carolina, were inspired by Elon’s commitment to building an inclusive and welcoming campus community.

The week offers multiple opportunities to examine sustainable habits and learn about the university's sustainability practices. 

Tickets for the first Distinguished Leadership Lecture of the 2018-19 academic year, postponed from September due to Hurricane Florence, have been distributed. The lecture will be streamed to Yeager Recital Hall on Elon University's main campus for those unable to attend in Greensboro.

The Elon University Poll also explored how North Carolinians were impacted by Hurricane Florence, how they might confront the next hurricane that hits the state and how they believe leaders responded to the storm, among other topics.

Judges heard appellate arguments in an employment discrimination lawsuit involving a former sheriff’s deputy in North Carolina, and a criminal case with Fourth Amendment considerations after police in West Virginia used a GPS tracker without a warrant.

Three of the five residence halls that make up the Global Neighborhood have been named for retired faculty and staff members who served the university for decades. 

The annual program for first-year Elon students held Oct. 4 includes a pledge to uphold these four virtues that are central to the Elon Honor Code.
