Every member of Elon University has the right to live and learn in an atmosphere of respect and support. The Elon University honor system presents the expectations of the university that individuals will act in a manner that is respectful of the rights and privileges of others.

Responsibility for maintaining the honor of the community rests with each individual member. Only if every member assumes responsibility for personal and group integrity and civility will the community best meet the developmental needs of its members. Each person must examine, evaluate and regulate their own behavior to be consistent with the expectations of the Elon community.

The Elon Honor System includes the Honor Code, the Code of Conduct (including Academic Integrity, Social Policies, and the Sexual Misconduct Policy), and adjudication processes.  All undergraduate and graduate students are governed by the Elon University Honor System, except as outlined within the Elon School of Law Student Handbook for law students.

Academic Integrity Policies

The process for Academic Integrity Violations can be found within the Student Handbook. Here is the form for potential Honor Code Violations related to Academic Integrity.

Social Policies

The Code of Conduct supports the shared values and community expectations that promote the development of the individual and the community. Social Policies are identified in the student handbook, including policies for Student Organizations.

Title IX Sexual Misconduct Policy

The university’s Title IX Coordinator oversees compliance with all aspects of the Title IX Sexual Misconduct Policy (including harassment and/or discrimination on the basis of sex or gender) under the requirements of Title IX. Questions about the policy or the institutions response should be directed to the Title IX Coordinator.
