Every member of Elon University has the right to live and learn in an atmosphere of respect and support. The Elon University honor system presents the expectations of the university that individuals will act in a manner that is respectful of the rights and privileges of others.
Responsibility for maintaining the honor of the community rests with each individual member. Only if every member assumes responsibility for personal and group integrity and civility will the community best meet the developmental needs of its members. Each person must examine, evaluate and regulate their own behavior to be consistent with the expectations of the Elon community.
The Elon Honor System includes the Honor Code, the Code of Conduct (including the Sexual Misconduct and Interpersonal Violence Policy), and adjudication processes. All undergraduate and graduate students are governed by the Elon University Honor System, except as outlined within the Elon School of Law Student Handbook for law students.
Those prohibited behaviors and processes associated with Sexual Misconduct and Interpersonal Violence are administered under the authority of the University’s Title IX Coordinator and govern all students, including all undergraduate students, graduate students and law students. Those prohibited behaviors and processes may be found in the Sexual Misconduct and Interpersonal Violence Policy. Violations of the Sexual Misconduct and Interpersonal Violence Policy are violations of the Code of Conduct.
