Chemistry professor publishes catalysis research

Jen Dabrowski publishes research article on delineating the role of B–Si-based catalysts in selective transformations of an unsaturated class of carbohydrates.

‚Äč Assistant Professor of Chemistry Jen Dabrowski coauthored a research article entitled “Delineating the Multiple Roles of B(C5F6)3 in the Chemoselective Deoxygenation of Unsaturated Polyols” in the American Chemical Society journal ACS Catalysis.

In the article, Dabrowski et al. detail how tuning the catalytic system yields disparate highly functionalized products that are applicable to the synthesis of pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. Rapid diversification is made possible through determination and exploitation of the reactivity profile of B(C5F6)3, a main group catalyst. The work is part of a continued effort to develop catalysts for the conversion of biorenewable materials to replace petroleum-derived sources for accessing consumer products.
