The marketing program at Elon’s Martha and Spencer Love School of Business seeks to produce outstanding graduates through the use of engaged classroom teaching, service learning classes, class projects, study abroad experiences and internships to transform students into knowledgeable professionals and leaders in marketing. The goal of the program is to graduate students who have exceptional communication skills, can work effectively in groups and are socially responsible in their business activities.
The program provides students with deep knowledge in the discipline so that they can successfully navigate the managerial and social process individuals and groups use to obtain what they need and want by creating and exchanging value with others. Students that complete the marketing major at Elon will be better prepared and equipped to succeed in their marketing and professional sales careers.
“While at Elon I did three internships, studied abroad once and completed undergraduate research through my honors thesis. These experiences helped me build on what I learned in classes as well as hone in on what I felt I’d like to do for my career. They also proved to be valuable experiences when it came to interviewing for full-time employment post graduation.”

Our curriculum gives students a theoretical and practical grounding in the field of marketing. It provides integrated courses, access to best practices in the workplace and guest speakers to complement formal coursework and reinforce concepts covered in research courses.
At the end of the learning experience, students will:
• Be able to construct an appropriate marketing program for a consumer, business-to-business, or not-for-profit organization
• Demonstrate the ability to comprehend buyers and markets
• Have fundamental knowledge of advertising, market research, and personal selling concepts and practices
• Demonstrate oral and written communication skills appropriate for a marketing professional
• Understand global marketing and cross-cultural interactions
• Apply critical thinking skills to marketing situations.
To ensure students enter the workforce as informed, productive, and socially responsible participants, marketing majors are required to put their knowledge into practice through internships and class projects. All students are required to complete an internship. Those students who select a sales focus within the marketing major must complete an internship in professional sales. This requirement will be addressed through advising and coordinated with the school’s internship coordinator.
Our marketing faculty has strong credentials in academics and research. They serve as valuable mentors guiding students to identity and pursue their passions diligently and provide strong content. In addition, our experience and global networks allow students to accelerate their growth and accomplishments by leveraging the faculty expertise, knowledge and contacts.
