Elon University in Los Angeles Program

Elon in Los Angeles is a unique program that offers students the opportunity to LIVE LEARN and INTERN in the entertainment capital of the world.

NEW Spring Semester Program

The 2013 spring semester in Los Angeles is currently underway and we are now taking aplications for the 2014 Spring Semester

Students will be enrolled in three or four classes while working at one or two professional internships. There will be classes offered in production, acting, public relations and law. Some of the classes will include: Media Law & Ethics, Acting for Cinema, Entertainment Public Relations, Entertainment Production, and Contemporary Art in LA. All courses will be supplemented with master classes from alumni and industry professionals.

Enrollment in the Elon in LA spring program is open to students at other universities!

Summer Program

The Elon in Los Angeles summer program is a nine-week opportunity for students to live, learn and intern in the capitol of the entertainment world. In the summer of 2013, the program will run from June 1 to Aug. 3.

Enrollment in the Elon in LA summer program is now open. Click the link to the application to get started: https://elon.studioabroad.com/?go=ElonInLA2013

The program, open to all majors, accepts up to 40 students, who will earn six hours of credit (two hours of internship and four hours of a communications elective) while onsite in Hollywood.

While students spend their summers taking the class that most interests them, they all work together during their nine weeks on the larger, end-of-summer project—the five short films that will eventually be screened at the American Film Institute. The films are produced and directed by students in the production class and star students in the acting class. The PR students, then, put together press kits containing plot synopses, cast lists and production bios to circulate to attendees, and develop a social media strategy for the individual films.

Students participating in Elon in LA have regularly scheduled activities, such as film screenings, behind the scenes tours of productions in progress and mentoring interactions with our alumni working and living in Los Angeles.

“If I just come out here by myself, I don’t think I’d get the opportunity to get feedback and work with all kinds of different people. Being out here gives us an excuse to work together. But at the same time, it’s also a competition. It’s a weird mix of working together but also that push you get from seeing everyone else work and saying, ‘I want to be good, too.’” – Asha Wilson ’13, Media Arts & Entertainment majorand intern at Martin Chase Productions in Los Angeles in the summer of 2011
