Elon University in Los Angeles Program
Elon in Los Angeles is a nine-week opportunity for students to intern and study in the capitol of the entertainment world. The Elon in L.A. 2010 dates are June 5-Aug. 7. Download the APPLICATION (PDF and Word Doc) and the ESSAY/CHECKLIST (PDF and Word Doc).
The program, open to all majors, accepts up to 40 students, who will earn six hours of credit (two hours of internship and four hours of a communications elective) while onsite in Hollywood.
Opportunities for internships exist within entertainment companies and businesses that support the industry, including casting, distribution of programming and entertainment journalism. All students participating in the Elon in Los Angeles program will be required to live in apartments contracted by the University with The Oakwood – Toluca Hills Corporate Housing. Oakwood is a residential, temporary housing facility located just outside the gates of Universal Studios in Burbank. All rooms are fully furnished, have wireless broadband and an onsite health club. Students from several universities also use this facility and allow for students to interact with other students studying and interning in Los Angeles. These facilities have several rooms that can be used for meetings, banquets and a theater screening room. A grocery store, Enterprise car rental with special arrangements for university students, an airport shuttle and bus service all operate from the facility.
Students participating in Elon in LA have regularly scheduled activities, such as film screenings, behind the scenes tours of productions in progress and mentoring interactions with our alumni working and living in Los Angeles.
Students maintain a blog that chronicles their experiences in Los Angeles, which you can access HERE and from the menu at the top right of this page. Check back regularly for their updates.
