Are tickets required to attend the 124th Commencement Exercises on May 24?
What is the rain plan?

Elon University will make every attempt to hold Commencement Exercises Under the Oaks on Saturday, May 24 at 9:15 a.m. When Commencement exercises are held Under the Oaks, there is no limit to the number of guests who may attend and tickets are not required.

If the weather forecast for Saturday predicts rain that will clear during the morning hours, the University may delay the start of the ceremony until 10:30 a.m. If conditions do not improve, Commencement exercises will be moved to Alumni Gym in Koury Athletic Center. A ticket is required for admission to the indoor commencement ceremony. Graduates may pick up two rain location tickets in Alamance 109 (Office of Student Life) beginning Monday, May 5. It is the responsibility of the graduates to give these tickets to those who will use them May 24.

Additionally, Commencement exercises will be broadcast via closed circuit television to several campus locations. Tickets are not required at these locations. Families and guests are encouraged to meet their graduates at the post Commencement receptions which will be moved to these same buildings if the rain plan is implemented. What time is the continental breakfast over?

The breakfast closes at 8:45 a.m. Guests will be asked to clear the fountain area at this time and find their seats. All guests should be seated by 9:00 a.m. to ensure a prompt start of the ceremony.

How long is the commencement ceremony?

The ceremony including the academic procession and recession will be approximately three hours and conclude by 12:30 p.m.

Are professional photographs available?

Yes, a professional photographer will take photos of each graduate receiving his or her diploma. Photo proofs will be available online through Lifetouch a few days after the ceremony. Visit
http://www.elon.edu/commencement for more information. There are also sales tables Under the Oaks and near Fonville Fountain. Look for the sign “Commencement Photographs.” Staff will be on hand ready to answer questions.

How can I order graduation on DVD?

Elon DVD sales tables will be located Under the Oaks and near Fonville Fountain. Staff at these DVD sales tables will provide sales information and accept orders. Download form here.

Is water available during the ceremony?

Water stations are located behind the seating Under the Oaks.

Where are the restrooms?

There are bathrooms in McEwen Communications, McEwen Dining Hall, Alamance, and Long buildings. There are comfort stations located at the parking lot behind the seating area. The comfort stations have baby changing facilities. Due to live music, Whitley Auditorium remains closed and the restrooms are unavailable.

Where do I meet my graduate after the ceremony?

A reception for graduates will be held around Fonville Fountain (same location as breakfast). Signs for each of the academic degrees/departments will be placed above the reception tables located in Scott Plaza. Please plan to meet your graduate near the sign of their academic major.

Where do graduates pick up the oak sapling?

Oak saplings are available near the fountain at the Alumni Information tables.

Where do I get my sticker that says “I’m a Proud Parent”?

You can pick up these stickers up at the Information tables and the Alumni tables at Fonville Fountain.

Where is the first aid station and commencement communications center?

Commencement Communications, Campus Police, and First Aid are located under the tent between Whitley Auditorium and the parking lot.

Where is the lost and found?

During the ceremony, lost and found should be taken to the information table at the back of the graduation site. Following the ceremony lost and found will be taken to Campus Security in The Oaks.
