Commencement Candidates of the Class of 2022:

I am writing regarding Elon University’s Undergraduate Commencement, which is scheduled for Friday, May 20, 2022.

As previously announced, two ceremonies will take place in Schar Center:

  • At 9 a.m., The Martha and Spencer Love School of Business and School of Communications will award diplomas, ending at approximately 11 a.m.
  • At 2 p.m., Elon College, The College of Arts and Sciences, and the Dr. Jo Watts Williams School of Education will award diplomas, ending at approximately 4 p.m.

Each ceremony will include the keynote address given by Hilary Corna ’07, best-selling author and host of the “UNprofessional” podcast, followed by reading of names and awarding of diplomas as candidates cross the stage.

GUEST TICKETS: All guests attending ceremonies inside Schar Center on May 20 will require an admission ticket.

April 20-25: Candidates will request their needed guest tickets (up to a maximum of 5 tickets). This ticket request period will close at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, April 25. Instructions will be shared in advance.

April 27-29: We anticipate that a limited number of tickets will remain after the initial request period. In that case, candidates may request one (1) additional guest ticket to their designated ceremony, first come first serve, until the limited number of tickets is depleted.

May 2-7: Candidates will pick up guest tickets at Schar Center Ticket Office. Candidates who are unavailable during business days/hours (i.e., due to internships or student teaching) should plan to pick up tickets on Saturday, May 7.

It is the candidate’s responsibility to request, claim and distribute tickets to the guests who will use them on May 20. There is no cost for guest tickets.

Guests without tickets to Schar Center ceremonies may watch in Alumni Memorial Gym in Koury Athletic Center. Tickets are not required for Alumni Memorial Gym. The ceremonies will also be available to livestream on personal devices at www.elon.edu/live.

Plans are also underway for the following Senior Week events:

  • An evening Senior Celebration, Wednesday, May 18 in Rhodes Stadium for the Class of 2022
  • Dean’s Receptions for graduates and guests, Thursday, May 19 starting at 2 p.m.; an opportunity for candidates and their guests to spend time with faculty and staff from their areas of study
  • Donning of the Kente, Thursday, May 19 at 6 p.m. in Alumni Memorial Gym;candidates will register through the Office of Alumni Engagement

The full schedule of events will be available on the Commencement website.

The Healthy Elon Committee, Infectious Disease Response Team and Data Team continue meeting regularly to make decisions and share information about prevention strategies related to COVID-19. The health and safety of our students, faculty, staff and Elon families is our top priority. The best source of information about the university response and campus policies is the Healthy Elon website.

We offer our congratulations to you and look forward to celebrating with the Class of 2022 this May.
